The promotion-chasing Blades turned their attention to the 29-year-old after missing out on QPR defender Jimmy Dunne.
Holding told the club’s official media: “It’s been a long day but it is well worth it, I’m happy to be here. I had a quick word with the gaffer and I’m excited with the project he’s got going on here, it is a good environment to be in.

Not long left! Just over an hour to go until the transfer window shuts and there are still a number of deals yet to be announced…
Tottenham are up against the clock to complete their move for Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich, while Manchester City have not yet announced their capture of Nico Gonzalez.
Two that should get done from Chelsea are the loan exits of Ben Chilwell and Axel Disasi, who are joining Crystal Palace and Aston Villa respectively.
There is still no word from Everton on their signing of Carlos Alcaraz from Flamengo. The Brazilian club confirmed there was an agreement reached for Alcaraz’s loan signing last week and the player completed a medical over the weekend in Merseyside, yet the transfer is still to be confirmed.
At this rate, it looks like there could be a number of the infamous deal sheets being lodged as clubs look to complete moves after the 11pm deadline.

Another familiar face returns! Willian is close to securing a return to Fulham, per multiple sources.

We weren’t expecting this one…
Newcastle defender Lloyd Kelly has joined Italian giants Juventus on loan, with an obligation to make the move permanent for £20m in the summer.
The 26-year-old has been on the fringes at St James’ Park this season, making only 10 appearances in the Premier League, but will now head to Turin to play for the three-time European champions.

After Spurs seemed the more likely destination, the Chelsea centre-back now appears to be on his way to Aston Villa, according to Matt Law of The Telegraph.
He is reporting that there is now an agreement in place for the French defender to head to Villa Park until the end of the season.
After a day of back and forth, Villa looked to have solved their defensive issues and wrapped up their fifth signing of the window, with a £5m loan fee going to Chelsea.

The 38-cap Spain international joined PSG from Real Madrid in the summer of 2023 and has made 16 appearances this season, scoring two goals.
He bolsters Unai Emery’s attacking options after they lost Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr last week, with the former Real youngster able to play out wide and in attacking midfield.

Premier League bottom side Southampton are pushing to sign defender centre-back Abakar Sylla from Strasbourg, according to Sky Sports.
The deal for the Ivorian 22-year-old would be a straight loan but the move is far from being completed.
Manager Ivan Juric favours playing with three centre-backs and Sylla fits the profile of defender he wants.
The Saints won only their second game of the season on Saturday against Ipswich but remain at the foot of the table with only nine points, a whopping 10 from safety.

Tottenham have resurrected their interest in Chelsea defender Axel Disasi with less than six hours to go until the transfer deadline!
Matt Law of The Telegraph is reporting that Spurs are still exploring a loan move for the French defender.
Disasi was a target for Aston Villa earlier in the transfer window, but a move to either side looked to be unlikely after talks hit a stumbling block.
It is now seemingly up to the player to give the green light over a switch to North London.

Manuel Neuer is set to remain with Bayern Munich for another season after signing a new deal until 2026.
The veteran goalkeeper, 38, will play with Bayern past his 40th birthday in what will be his 15th season with the Bundesliga giants.
Neuer retired from international duty with Germany after Euro 2024 and there were suggestions he could end his club career too, but the 2014 World Cup winner and 11-time Bundesliga champion will continue for another year at least.
Neuer said: “I really enjoy playing football and want to remain a Bayern player. I’m still hungry and am looking forward to another year at this special club.
“We’ve always had good talks. That’s a good feeling. It feels good and we’ve still got many goals to achieve together.”

It is not yet known whether Tel will sign a loan deal or join the club on a permanent transfer.
Tel had become frustrated at a lack of opportunity at Bayern with Manchester United and Arsenal also keen to bring him to the Premier League.

New Everton manager David Moyes is understandably keen to add players to his squad and 22-year-old Alcaraz could become the Scot’s first signing for the Toffees since he snapped up John Stones from Barnsley for £3m in January 2013, during his first spell in charge.

Championship promotion contenders Sunderland will only allow Brighton to sign 18-year-old Tommy Watson if fellow winger Simon Adingra moves in the opposite direction, according to MailOnline.
The outlet says Albion have had an £8.5m offer plus add-ons rejected for Watson, who has five goals and three assists in five Premier League 2 appearances this season, as well as making 11 first-team appearances, including scoring both of the Black Cats’ goals in their 2-1 home win over Stoke City on December 7.
Former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille are said to have failed with a £20m bid for Adingra, the winner of the Best Young Player award at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which his Ivory Coast side won.
The 23-year-old has made 16 league appearances this season, providing two goals and one assist but only making six starts. He also scored in each of Brighton’s three EFL Cup matches.

West Ham are set to confirm the signing of Seagulls striker Evan Ferguson on loan after the Republic of Ireland international reportedly had a medical with the Hammers on Sunday, although Everton are being linked with a late move for the 20-year-old.
Ferguson made his Brighton debut under new West Ham manager Graham Potter in 2022 and went on to establish himself as one of the most promising forwards in the Premier League, but the former Bohemians hotshot has struggled for fitness and form this season, scoring once in 15 games.

Edwards told the Burnley website: “It feels amazing. Burnley is like a Premier League club. I’m really happy to be here.
“I know Scott from my time at Spurs. I know what he’s like. He’s ambitious, he’s driven. We had a good relationship back then so when I knew he wanted me to come that was enough for me.”

Villa are short of bodies at the back but have still sanctioned the switch that will see the 19-year-old Serbian join the Bundesliga club.
Nedeljkovic told the Leipzig website: “Since the first contact, I really wanted to take this option, because the club consistently relies on young players and gives them the chance to develop.”

Lloyd Kelly has passed his medical at Juventus and is poised to complete a move from Newcastle.
The defender, who joined the Magpies over the summer, will join the Bianconeri on an initial loan deal before Juventus making the deal permanent in the summer.
Another player who could be moving to Serie A is Joao Felix, with reports this morning suggesting the Chelsea forward is a target for AC Milan.
Fabrizio Romano will be a busy man today.
He has claimed Tottenham’s bid to sign Axel Disasi has stalled as the player wants to join Aston Villa. However, Chelsea won’t sanction his move to Villa Park as Unai Emery’s side are Champions League rivals.

Deadline day has finally arrived and there are several clubs scrambling around trying to make last-minute moves.
Arsenal‘s long pursuit of a centre forward could take another twist, although their 5-1 mauling of Manchester City yesterday may have changed the thinking at the Emirates.
City were a shambles in the last 20 minutes and, despite already investing heavily in this window, Pep Guardiola may request further reinforcements.
Talking of a shambles, there’s Manchester United. They may have got rid of Marcus Rashford but surely they need to bring some bodies in if they want to move into the top half of the Premier League.
Chelsea will do business, because they always do. However, it may be more outgoings than incomings with Joao Felix, Ben Chilwell and Axel Disasi all rumoured to be close to departing Stamford Bridge.
Do Liverpool need to do anything? Perhaps not but we will see!
Stay with us for all the big moves throughout the day!
